A brief HISTORY of the 503 F2 Racing Team
Go to the Links Page

Rick Sutcliffe has been racing Brisca Formula 2 Stock Cars since 1990. His best result upto 1997 was a second place in the Shale World Championship Qualifying Heat, however mechanical failure when lining up, halted any potential succes in the Event Final.
In 1997 things changed dramatically for the team, when Rick moved to the Isle of Man with his family. Oval racing on the Island is not as frenetic as that in the UK and Rick found almost immediate success, behind the wheel of a borrowed car. Indeed, after only 2 meetings in the car, the race wins began and the car was purchased - with the old 'shale' car being sold to a local newcomer.
Since then, the newly purchased car has led Rick to many Race and Meeting wins, however the Track Championship has eluded the 503 Team.

1999 however will not go down as a memorable year for the 503 Team. Much of the year was lost through injury to Rick. He sustained broken ribs during a 'friendly' football match against a team from a local church - we hear that the culprit was most apologetic!
There were a handful of wins. Notably a 3 on the trot meeting which captured the inaugural running of the 'Jim King Memorial Trophy', about half way through the season - shortly before mechanical problems and then the aforementioned rib escapade, ruined the year. Rick was honoured to win the award having heard much about the antics of Jim 'Nosmo' King from the (careful now) more senior Stock Car fans, often found wandering around the stadium.
The last meeting of the year saw the Final of another annual Memorial Trophy. This time in the name and memory of Wilf Blundell. Rick was particularly sad not to be able to contest this, having been the inaugural winner of that trophy also, 12 months earlier. This time the honour went to Robbie Sampson, who held off a strong challenge from Adam Smith.
So, the car was put back on the axle stands for another few months, awaiting May 2000 and the promise of a better racing year.

Previous Crew
Ray... Now Ray is a man of not inconsiderable size; some might call him fat - though probably not to his face. Ray enjoys falling over hidden walls (BOLTON 1997), trying desperately not to spill his pint or drop his pie. This is a sight to behold; very, very funny!
Ray was good with a hammer, but not so good with needlecraft - big hands you see. Mind you, the size of his hands never helped with his other interests, Golf, Cricket and Snooker, at all of which Ray was very average. Of course this was before he became deaf, developed Tennis Elbow, pulled his back put (probably thanks to wife Christine) and smashed his shoulder - this man's a walking plaster-cast!
Nowadays Ray can be found behind the turn-tables in many a Sheffield Workingmen's Club.
DJ Ray is the very definition of 'A Character' and can be booked by e-mailing us (no warranty is offered or implied!)...

Darran, Simon, Roy, Keith, Adam, Graham
and Ronnie, who will long be missed.
